Google is changing how local results are displayed: how to adapt and strengthen your local marketing

Google has announced an important update that directly affects how search results are displayed. From now on, country-specific domains such as google.com.ar or google.com.co will no longer define the results a user sees. Instead, Google will prioritise the user’s physical location at the moment of the search.

For example, even if someone opens google.com while in Mexico, they will still see local Mexican results because Google will prioritise where they actually are.

This change is intended to unify the search experience, but it also creates a new challenge and a real opportunity for teams working in local marketing.
